Dax – Stock Index Components

The DAX is the benchmark index of Deutsche Börse and measures the performance of the 40 largest and most liquid companies on the German stock market, based on their free-float market capitalisation. The DAX is a performance index: besides price changes, it also includes dividend payments, which are treated as reinvested. There is also a price-only version, the DAX Kursindex. The DAX is regarded as a key barometer of the German stock market and the German economy. Because many DAX companies operate internationally, it also reflects the global economy.

The DAX is calculated every second during Xetra trading hours (9:00 to 17:30 CET). Admission to the index depends mainly on free-float market capitalisation. Companies must also meet minimum requirements, such as sufficient liquidity and a listing in the Prime Standard segment. The DAX is one of the most important stock indices in Europe.

DAX constituents include leading German and internationally active companies from sectors such as automotive, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, software and financial services.
