Athex Composite Index components | values (GRI99117A004)
The Athex Composite or Athex Composite Share Price Index is the main Greek stock index. The abbreviation Athex stands for Athens Stock Exchange. The Athex Composite tracks the performance of the 60 largest and most actively traded Greek companies on the Athens Stock Exchange. It thus reflects the market segment of Greek blue chips and is the leading index for the Greek stock market. The Athex Composite Share Price Index is a price index that tracks the 60 largest and most actively traded public companies on the Athens Stock Exchange (Athex). To be included in the index, the company must be financially sound, have high liquidity and be traded on the Athens Stock Exchange. The index level is determined solely on the basis of share prices and is only adjusted for income from subscription rights and special payments. The companies are weighted according to the free float-adjusted market capitalization; there is no maximum value for the share of individual companies. Corporate actions such as stock splits have no (distorting) impact on the index. The composition of the index is reviewed twice a year (April and October). The calculation is updated every 30 seconds during Athex trading hours from 10:30am to 5:20pm local time (9:30am to 4:20pm CET). Another index of the Athens Stock Exchange is the FTSE/Athex Large Cap, which lists the 25 largest companies in the country with the highest turnover.
