Description of the company
First Quantum Minerals Ltd is engaged in the production of copper, nickel, gold, zinc and acid and related activities, including exploration and development. The segments of the company include individual mine development projects or mining operations as well as the Corporate & Other segment. The Corporate & Other segment is responsible for valuing and acquiring mineral properties, regulatory reporting, treasury and financial affairs, and corporate administration. This includes the metal distribution department. Its mines are located in Zambia, Australia, Finland, Turkey, Spain and Mauritania. It operates six mines including the Kansanshi copper-gold mine, the Guelb Moghrein copper-gold mine, the Las Cruces copper mine, the Pyahasalmi copper-zinc mine, the Ravensthorpe nickel-cobalt mine and the copper-zinc mine Cayeli. It is developing the Cobre Panama copper project in Panama, which is investigating the Haquira copper deposit in Peru and the Taca Taca copper-gold-molybdenum deposit in Argentina.
