Description of the company
The IFA Hotel and Tourism AG is a tourism company that operates in the management and marketing of holiday hotels. The company reported share capital of € 51.48 million in the 2015 Annual Report and employed an average of around 2,000 people per year. The company is based in Duisburg. The majority of the shares are owned by the Lopesán Group, based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain).
IFA Hotel & Touristik was founded in 1982 as a marketer for Spanish hotels and apartment complexes. In 1984, the purchase of the Alpenhotel Wildental and the lease of a holiday hotel in Hirschegg, the entry into the Austrian market. The years until 1995 were characterized by an increased engagement in Germany. In addition to the acquisition of several hotels during this period, the inclusion of hospital activities fell. In July 1995, the IPO took place. The first shares were issued at a price of 30 DM in regulated trading on the stock exchanges in Frankfurt am Main and Dusseldorf. In 1999, the Spanish Lopesán Group acquired the majority shareholding with 50.1% of the shares. The Group structure and the IFA brand have been retained. Before and after the IPO IFA was also represented at short notice in Italy, Turkey and Eastern Europe.
In 2016, IFA acquired 50% of the shares in the Anfi Group, which operates the tourist resorts "Anfi del Mar" and "Anfi Tauro" in the timeshare model on Gran Canaria.
