Description of the company

Under the brand name Siemens Healthineers (formerly Siemens Healthcare), the medical technology activities of Siemens AG are combined. The name "Healthineers" is a neologism of "healthcare," "engineer," and "pioneer."

Siemens Healthineers is one of the largest healthcare providers in the world and at the end of 2007 employed around 49,000 people [4] in 120 countries around the world, including around 8,500 in Germany. Headquarter and headquarters in Germany is Erlangen, other locations are located in neighboring Forchheim as well as in Kemnath, Rudolstadt and Marburg. In fiscal year 2007, sales of 9.9 billion euros were achieved. The result was 1.3 billion euros, while spending on research and development amounted to 1.1 billion euros. In 2005, 75 percent of the products were less than three years old, and according to their own data, five patents were registered per working day. The main competitors are General Electric (USA) and Philips (NL) United Imaging (CN).

The portfolio includes ultrasound imaging systems, mammography devices, CT scanners, MRI scanners, angiography systems, conventional X-ray systems, sports medical diagnostic equipment, molecular medical systems (PET CT, SPECT CT CT, PET MRI, etc.), laboratory diagnostic products, and radiation therapy and particle therapy based systems of particle accelerators. Siemens Healthineers also offers medical information processing systems.

Siemens sold its decades-long hearing aid business to the Swedish investment company EQT and the Strüngmann family in January 2015. It will be continued by the company Sivantos, the brand name Siemens will continue to be used under license.
